Brett came over yesterday and we began a batch of steam beer. We started a public wiki here, and have declared our motto to be ‘Store Bought Beer is For Wimps’. It’s good that we’re going to start recording these things now, as we have actually made a few very good batches that are worth reproducing. We often vary our recipes from those that you’d find in a book due to lack of specific ingredients, and now we have a place to store those changes.

In two weeks we’re going to start up a long-aging mead, and are considering cloning either a Chimay or a Newcastle as well.

Don’t be a wimp. Have a homebrew.

Three weeks ago, I set out to create a quick brewing mead. Well, this afternoon, the results are in. And we have a… sort of success. It’s drinkable, but it’s the kind of thing that I’ll probably hold on to until a plague hits or I need to numb myself for an amputation.

It turns out that even in brewing, there is a reward for patience.
